OUR
HISTORY

SCS was founded in November 2016 with the merger of Schiefer Media and ChopShop to form SCS. Schiefer Media’s James Schiefer and ChopShop’s Zach Lyons wanted to create an agency uniquely designed to meet the future needs of consumer marketers by bringing media, creative and content together in a nimble, data-first offering designed for the new speed of consumer business today. SCS acquired Fuel in July 2018 to bring advanced digital studio capabilities to the agency. In 2021, SCS acquired Atlanta-based digital performance marketing agency Swarm to strengthen e-commerce, retail, and performance media capabilities, taking SCS to over 100 staff across three offices.

Schiefer Media (1985)

Schiefer Media was an enthusiast media agency with an original focus on the automotive aftermarket and related enthusiast categories. Founded in 1985 by second generation automotive veteran Carl Schiefer (whose father Paul Schiefer was a founding member of the automotive aftermarket trade industry association SEMA in 1963), Schiefer Media went on to help numerous automotive brands – including category leaders Edelbrock, Mothers, Bilstein, and Royal Purple – to connect to enthusiast consumers through television, print and digital media.

ChopShop (2003)

Founded by seasoned video production entrepreneur Ken Anderson in 2003 as a post-production house, ChopShop went on to be an important television production partner for Fuel TV in the 2000s and ultimately became a creative agency with a focus on lifestyle brands under the leadership of film director Zach Lyons, who has directed work at ChopShop for Nike, PacSun, and Mophie.

Fuel (1999)

Fuel was founded in Ottawa, ON (Canada) in 1999 by Mike Burns, Jeff Doiron, and Dave Ozipko as a pure play digital studio, initially developing digital experiences for local clients such as Canada Post and The Royal Canadian Mint. Within a few short years Fuel was a significant digital agency with global roll-outs such as Barbie for Mattel, Happy Studio for McDonald’s, and Fanta Fruit Slam for Coca-Cola resulting in multi-language digital platforms that engaged millions of consumers around the world.

Swarm (2009)

Swarm was founded by Tom Ellis and Alexa Ellis as a data-driven, conversion focused digital marketing agency, with proven expertise in helping clients achieve and surpass their conversion goals. Swarm assists regional, national and global retail, e-commerce, and B2C and B2B brands with an innovative digital marketing process that creates long-term models of growth through a harmonious blending of marketing strategy, technology development, and performance media optimization.

OUR
CULTURE

SCS operates on six key principles that drive our approach and way of life. These six principles launched the agency in November 2016 and help SCS provide brands with speed, value, integration and innovation that helps our clients reach their goals.

BE AN INSTIGATOR

Innovation doesn’t just happen. It emerges when a discontent with the status quo meets the relentless pursuit of better. We push to think differently and find new paths and encourage our team to make their voice heard. It’s the only way we stay out of our comfort zones and head towards better solutions for our clients.

RESPECT OUR DIFFERENCES

Earth-shaking insights can come from anywhere – and the breakthrough work is often found by pushing to the edges. We want to value both creative thinking and analytical work equally. Our differences aren’t contrasts; they’re complementary parts that make us extraordinary.

BE THE NICEST

Kindness is often underrated, but it’s the life-blood of any trust-based relationship. We check our egos at the door, collaborate, and spend every minute of every day doing the best work of our careers with the kindest, coolest people in the world. It’s not just the way we like to do things, it is a must when we work with clients and each other.

GO BIG AND OWN IT

Our mission is to innovate in everything we do, from our smallest projects to our largest campaigns. That only happens when we feel empowered to go all-in and take responsibility for everything we do. Our team endeavors to take ownership and elevate, to look at a task or deliverable and think about how to push it and make it better.

FAMILY FIRST

We believe in our people and our clients and we work to stand by them. We push to support and learn from each other so that we can all be better, together. Our company strives to do right by people at every level, and create a team culture that’s able to focus and thrive.

CHARACTER IS EVERYTHING

We strive to have integrity in all that we do and to always do the right thing. Transparency and accountability are essential to creating trust with each other as well as with our clients and partners. Strong character is essential to driving exceptional performance for our agency and our clients’ business.
